How to Commission a Dog Portrait

Starting Your Order

Feel free to upload your photos right in the contact form when you reach out. I encourage you to share as many reference photos as you’d like! Seeing the subject from various angles and lighting really helps me out.

Once you’ve shared your reference images, I’ll create some digital compositions for you. This way, you’ll have a few different versions of your portrait to choose from, giving you a sneak peek of how it’ll turn out.

After deciding on the composition and details, I’ll confirm all the important information —like size, medium, composition, special requests, expected completion date and pricing. Once you’re happy with everything, you can accept the quote, and I’ll add your portrait to my working list.

From Photo to Painting

Once your commission makes it to the top of my list, I’ll get started on your portrait. Depending on the size and medium, it usually takes between 10 to 40 hours to complete the artwork. Just a heads up, oil paintings might take a bit longer, as they’ll also need a few extra days to dry before I can send them out to you.

I typically don’t share work-in-progress photos because artwork can look a bit ugly in the early stages. It really isn’t until the final details are added that the portrait comes to life and truly resembles the subject.

If you’re curious about how your portrait is coming together, I’d love to share step-by-step photos with you!

Once your portrait is finished, I’ll send you a scan, or a photo of the artwork for your approval. I can also make any changes at that time if you’d like.

Payment and Delivery

When you are delighted with the potrait, I’ll send you an invoice via email. You can easily pay it using a debit or credit card, or through Paypal. If you prefer, there are also options for BACS (all the details will be on the invoice), and if you’re picking up the portrait in person, cash or card payment works too.

As soon as I receive your payment, I’ll send out the artwork to you. It will be securely packaged and shipped via Royal Mail Special Delivery, so you can expect it to arrive at your UK address within just 1-2 working days. Plus, all artwork is insured and trackable during its journey.

Leave a Review

I absolutely love hearing your thoughts on your portrait! If you could take a moment to leave a review on my Facebook business page, I would really appreciate it. Thank you so much!

Choosing a Reference Photo

If you’ve got a favorite photo of your dog or pet, that might just be the perfect reference to use! It probably captures their personality beautifully and looks just like them.

It would be fantastic if your photo or photos are high resolution and clear. If you’re unsure whether your picture is too dark or blurry, feel free to reach out—I’d love to help!
